Senior Product Manager

The Senior Product Manager for WordUp will play a critical role in enhancing the app’s user experience and maximising revenue. This is a key position that involves strategic planning, data analysis, and cross-functional leadership. You will lead efforts to refine the app’s features, optimise monetisation strategies, and drive user engagement. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker who combines a deep understanding of user psychology with a data-driven approach to product development.

Responsibilities

This is a dynamic role with a diverse set of responsibilities, including the following:

User Experience Optimisation: Drive continuous improvement of the app's user interface and interactions. Gather and analyse user feedback to design and implement new features that enhance engagement and learning outcomes.
Monetisation Strategy: Develop and refine monetisation strategies, including subscription models and in-app purchases. Identify opportunities for maximising revenue while maintaining a balance between free and premium offerings.
Data-Driven Decision Making: Utilise data analytics to understand user behaviour, identify trends, and make informed decisions. Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure product success and optimise features.
Product Roadmap Development: Create and maintain a strategic product roadmap that aligns with WordUp’s business goals. Prioritise features and enhancements based on user needs, business value, and technical feasibility.
User Retention and Engagement: Design initiatives to increase user retention and engagement, focusing on key features like the Knowledge Map, AI Chat, and personalised learning journeys. Implement strategies to encourage long-term app usage.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with developers, designers, and marketers to drive the product development process. Ensure effective communication across departments to deliver high-quality products on time.
Market Research and Competitor Analysis: Conduct ongoing market research to stay abreast of industry trends, user needs, and competitors. Use insights to inform product development and maintain a competitive edge.
Subscription Management: Oversee the management and optimisation of subscription plans (Free, Pro, and Enterprise). Develop initiatives to convert free users into paying customers, focusing on value-driven upselling.
Testing and Quality Assurance: Manage the testing of new features and updates. Work with QA teams to ensure that the app’s performance meets high standards and offers a seamless experience to users.
User Feedback and Support: Monitor user feedback and reviews to identify areas of improvement. Collaborate with the support team to resolve issues and incorporate user suggestions into the product development cycle.
AI Integration Enhancement: Leverage AI technologies within the app to provide personalised learning experiences. Continuously assess and improve AI-driven features, such as Lexi, the AI teacher, and Fantasy Chat, to enhance user interaction and engagement.
Revenue Tracking and Reporting: Monitor and report on revenue performance. Identify and implement actions to address gaps, improve revenue streams, and maximise the financial performance of the app.
Strategic Partnerships: Identify and pursue strategic partnerships to broaden WordUp’s reach and integrate new functionalities. Collaborate with educational institutions, language learning platforms, and potential business partners.

Q: How do I get a pay raise?
A: Your salary will be reviewed on an annual basis depending on your performance. We aim to pay above-market rates.

Q: What are the working times?
A: Sunday to Thursday, 9 am to 6 pm (UK time). But where your tasks are clear for you to work without needing communication, there is flexibility.

Q: Will I be paid for overtime?
A: Yes. The monthly salary agreement will be converted to an hourly rate based on 180 hours per month. You will invoice for the time you actually work, plus pro-rata holiday (18 days a year) plus insurance (1,700,000 tomans a month).

Q: How long is the project for?
A: This is a permanent working agreement on a dynamic range of projects. There is no end date. We always have a strong need for good employees.

Q: How do we communicate the tasks and progress?
A: We have an online task management system used to track all communications, tasks, progress, and estimations. We also use Slack for instant messaging and voice chats with virtual scrum daily standups with the project managers.

Q: How do you know how much I have worked?
A: We use a real-time work monitoring system. There will be full transparency, visibility, and automatic calculation of working times and payments.

Q: Will you pay my taxes?
A: Based on the Iranian law, your work qualifies as export of services, which is tax-free. There will be no deductions from your pay for insurance, taxes or anything else by us.

Q: Will there be an official contract?
A: Prior to starting, we will sign a contract electronically. You will work with us as an “Independent contractor” and invoice us on a monthly basis.

Q: How will I get paid?
A: We will pay directly into your bank account in Iran. You should provide us with your SHEBA account details.
